About us

TRANSLATON is a series of conferences dedicated to both the theoretical and practical aspects of translation studies. The concept for the series emerged from a close collaboration between the University of Warsaw and the University of Wrocław, initiated by Prof. Anna Małgorzewicz (Head of the Department of Glottodidactics and Translation Studies at the University of Wrocław) and Dr. Hab. Monika Płużyczka, Prof. UW (Head of the Department of Translation Studies at the University of Warsaw). This project was launched to unite the translation studies community in Poland through jointly organized conferences, while simultaneously fostering closer ties with the international academic sphere. The TRANSLATON conference is held alternately in Wrocław and Warsaw.
Through the dedicated efforts of both teams, TRANSLATON has become a platform that integrates diverse, often contrasting, yet complementary scientific perspectives on translation reality, varying research methodologies, and diverse technological solutions. It also serves as a forum for exchanging insights into the practical aspects of professional translation and interpreting. By addressing such a wide range of topics, the series not only stimulates translation discourse and advances the discipline itself, but also contributes to the conceptual foundations of translation pedagogy, competence models, and methodological frameworks.
